Fire Safety Risk Assessment
Fire Safety Risk Assessment and New Legislation (New Legislation April 2006)
On April 2006 the Fire and Rescue Authorities will no longer issue fire certificates. From that date the onus is on the duty holder - normally the owner of the property, to undertake his own assessment.
Fire and Rescue Services will still continue to inspect premises and ensure adequate fire precautions are in place.
The duty holder will be required to assess the risks of fire and take steps to reduce or remove them.
We can help and provide the following:
Establishing and defining the objectives
Establish the procedures and personnel
Identify the hazards
Identify the persons and/property at risk
Analyse and evaluate the risks
Assess whether the risk is negligible, acceptable or unacceptable
Establish appropriate control measures
Help implement those control measures
Record the findings
Monitor and review progress
Represent your company when required
Obviously the hazards and risks vary greatly on the type building or factory unit involved, the produce stored, the fire spread throughout the building, conduction, convection or radiation, the potential ignition sources and source of fuel. In addition to this the location of people and the requirements of people with special needs require assessing. All these items plus many others need to be considered.
